As the number of NCSNs continues to increase, the NBCSN board has also increased from an eight-person to a nine-person board. This year, we welcomed two new board members: Lori Haapala (WV), who is chair of the new Exam Preparation Committee, and Melissa Lassen (NC), who is chair of the Recertification Committee. I joined Sandi Delack, NBCSN’s new Executive Director, at the School Superintendents Association conference in February to share the importance of having Nationally Certified School Nurses (NCSNs) in each district. One of my priorities as NBCSN President is to further develop NBCSN’s commitment and actions to support diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging for those who are NCSNs and those who are not yet NCSNs. Stay tuned for more updates! If you would like to work with other NCSNs across the nation, consider joining one of NBCSN’s committees, as each aspect of the certification process involves NCSNs contributing their knowledge to further certification and excellence in school nursing.
